Q: What did you do prior to becoming a recruiter?
A: Customer Engineer
with IBM
Q: Why did you decide to become a recruiter
and what year (xx, xx, xxxx) did you become a recruiter?
A: A friend worked for
Sales Consultants and it sounded like a fun job but I didn't want to work
for the same office that he worked for, so I joined Management Recruiters
in November 1969. I started with MR in Milwaukee, transferred to Baltimore
then Frederick, MD. In 1978 I started The Search Group, rejoined MR Baltimore
in 1984 and reactivated The Search Group in 1992.
Q: Who were your role models and are
you mentoring others now?
A: During the
past 35 years, I have picked up ideas from a lot of good producers. For the
last 14 years I have enjoyed worked alone, recruiting property and casualty
insurance candidates.
Q: If you were asked what your job title is,
how would you respond?
A: I am a
recruiter!
Q: Is your primary job function sales
driven or recruiting driven?
A: Since I've
been around a long time, my main job is recruiting talent for client companies.
Q: Why did you join USRC and what prompts you to continue
to be a member?
A: Since a lot of my work
is done on a time and expense basis rather than contingency, I don't work
a lot of splits, but I still enjoy being a part of the USRC
